Well, I live in the southern states of Australia, and I've never known rugby league as "rugby".
But even here in Tasmania, rugby union and rugby league seems so much more coverage to come here when the little Aussie Rules is available in NSW, which means that very little, and what appears to be much less interest in the Rugby League and I can understand how some people might still confuse the correct name for each code.
It could also wonder why the Australians, what we call "soccer" football "everywhere calls.
